In your reference for this assignment, be sure to include both your text/class materials AND your outside reading(s).

Initial Post Instructions

If a regression analysis was to be completed on body mass index (BMI), what could be an independent variable in that analysis? Why? If we could, what other independent variables should be included in the analysis? What statistic(s) would show the value of that regression in understanding BMI?

Alternatively, find an article that uses regression analysis to study a medical concern. In that study, what was the dependent variable and what were the independent variable(s)? Further, how would you use this study to highlight the difference between correlations and causation?

Follow-Up Post Instructions

Respond to at least one peer. Further the dialogue by providing more information and clarification.

Hello Class,

Linear regression is the relationship between one independent variable and a dependent variable (LaMorte, 2016). One example you may see is cholesterol and BMI. BMI would be independent, and cholesterol would be dependent. So, it can be said that with an increase in BMI, a correlation of high cholesterol would also ensue. Regression analysis can be evaluated as cause and effect (Holmes et al., 2017). Meaning, if the BMI level is high, we can see that the effect would be the cholesterol would be high as well.

The article I researched was a study that tested toxic metals in three West African countries. The study showed in particularly rural areas where the water quality and regulation were poor, the higher instance of toxic metals detected in the water that was sampled. In the study as well, they determined that their four factors included lead occurrence, concentration of lead, water system age, and stagnation time (Fisher et al., 2021). The independent variable being the water sample and the dependent being metals detected. According to Fisher et al., “When correlation coefficients for significant associations between lead concentration and concentration of other metals were normalized to the median concentration of those other metals, the resulting normalized coefficient value (2021).” Correlation is an actual measure in statistics describing the differences between two variables whereas causation is an event because of the occurrence of the other event. In other words, the correlation could be the measure of toxic metals and the samples used and the causation is that the number of people who consumed that water sample developed a specific toxin related to that water.

Childhood Sexual Abuse in Females

Childhood Sexual Abuse in Females
Instructions: Respond by Day 6 to at least one of your colleagues who have not yet had a reply, in any of the following ways:
Support or challenge your colleagues’ reasoning for their selection of theoretical frameworks. How appropriate are they for both their Dissertation topic and problem statement, and for the field of public policy and administration?
If possible, offer another theoretical framework that might be equally or more suitable in public policy and administration.

Colleagues response: My dissertation topic is does childhood sexual abuse in females lead to delinquency. Women and girls have made up a more significant percentage of those arrested and convicted for major crimes in recent years, highlighting the need for a better knowledge of the etiology of female crime and delinquency. Several studies have established that childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is a significant contributor to female crime (Harris et al., 2019; Moreland et al., 2018; Tossone et al., 2017). Several diverging explanations have emerged, with a considerable number pointing at women’s victimization experiences as a crucial contributor in their pathway to female delinquency and subsequent crime. This necessitates the need to investigate the correlation between sexual abuse and female delinquency in African American females.
For my dissertation topic I will be using Conceptual framework. A conceptual framework entails the researcher’s understanding of how best to explore the research problem, the research’s specific direction, and the relationship of the different variables in the study (Grant & Osanloo, 2014). Summarized into simplicity, it is a system of beliefs, assumptions, and concepts supporting and guiding the research plan. Assumptions essential in instituting guidance for conducting research (Rubin & Rubin, 2012).

According to Ravitch & Carl (2021), the conceptual framework also lays out the critical constructs, factors, or variables and presumes their relationship. A logical structure of interconnected concepts is offered through a conceptual framework. This structure provides a visual display or picture of how the study’s ideas are related within the theoretical framework. An example of a conceptual framework from research on “interventions with special needs education” could be Response to Intervention Best Practices (Grant & Osanloo, 2014).

I selected conceptual framework as being the most appropriate theory for framing my research proposal because current delinquency theories are fundamentally inadequate for explaining female delinquency and institutional responses to girls’ deviance. An examination needs to be done to see what influence childhood sexual abuse have on female delinquent conduct. Then there’s the need for a research model on the effects of childhood sexual abuse on female delinquency, as well as an examination of the available evidence on girls’ criminal behavior.

Ethical Issue in Modern Medicine

Ethical Issue in Modern Medicine
Assignment

Students are to write a research paper on an ethical issue in modern medicine.

Students are to select one of the following topics:

1. Physician-Assisted Suicide (pgs. 437-501 in the textbook)

2. Abortion (543-573)

3. The Allocation of Scarce Resources (233-275)

4. Reproductive Cloning (669-699)

Minimum Requirements

-Papers must be between five and seven pages.

-Papers must be typed and double spaced. (Times New Roman, 12)

-Papers must be in MLA format.

-Papers must useat least three textbook articles as primary sources. Students can often borrow articles from different sections of the textbook because ethical issues in modern medicine often overlap.[1]Studentscan cite the HBO documentary “How to Die in Oregon” in place of oneof the required three textbook articles.

-Students must blend multiple direct quotations from all three textbook articles into the body paragraphs of the essay. Essays with an abundance of direct textual support typically score well.

-Exams must be uploaded into Blackboard in one of the following file formats: .doc, .docx, .docm, .ppt, .pptx, .odt, .txt, .rtf, .pdf, and .html. Other file formats (such as Pages) will not be accepted.

-Papers are to be submitted through Blackboard no later than 7/03/2021 at 11:59pm.

Expectations

The purpose of this assignment is for students to become informed about a contemporary moral issue. Students are expected to demonstrate an understanding of both sides of the issue in their presentation of the scholarly articles. Most of these articles either implicitly or explicitly reference each other. This means that students, in analyzing each article, will need to form an evaluative judgment about whether an author has successfully responded to the arguments of other authors. The paper should not merely summarizing the positions of the authors; rather, students are expected to relate the concepts of each author to those of the other authors and then synthesize that relation into a thesis statement.

Ethical challenges in the workplace

Ethical challenges in the workplace

In a
reflection paper of 700 to 800 words (3 pages) in APA format, consider the
ethical challenges that you face in the workplace and how your core beliefs and
values influence your own ethical behavior.

How do you
develop these core values? How have they changed over time? How do these
values influence your ethical decision making and leadership at work?

Revisit the
components of ethical leadership described in Chapter 13, Section 8 in the
Community Tool Box resource. Which components do you think are most
important or valuable? Why do you think these components are particularly
important in an ethical leader?

Which ethical
theory or theories (deontology, utilitarianism, virtue ethics, social
contract, or justice theory) do you think is most useful in supporting
ethical leadership? How could one of these ethical theories support your
own ethical leadership at work?

How do your
core values compare with those of the ethical leader you selected? How do
they differ?

How do the
components of ethical leadership that you value most compare to those of
the leader you selected?

What are your
key takeaways about ethical leadership from your research? Overall, what
makes an ethical leader?

Select an ethnic minority group that is represented in the United States (American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian American, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander). Using health information available from Healthy People, the CDC, and other relevant government websites, analyze the health status for this group.

In a paper of 1,000-1,250 words, compare and contrast the health status of your selected minority group to the national average. Include the following:

Describe the ethnic minority group selected. Describe the current health status of this group. How do race and ethnicity influence health for this group?
What are the health disparities that exist for this group? What are the nutritional challenges for this group?
Discuss the barriers to health for this group resulting from culture, socioeconomics, education, and sociopolitical factors.
What health promotion activities are often practiced by this group?
Describe at least one approach using the three levels of health promotion prevention (primary, secondary, and tertiary) that is likely to be the most effective in a care plan given the unique needs of the minority group you have selected. Provide an explanation of why it might be the most effective choice.
What cultural beliefs or practices must be considered when creating a care plan? What cultural theory or model would be best to support culturally competent health promotion for this population? Why?
Cite at least three peer-reviewed or scholarly sources to complete this assignment. Sources should be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and public health content.

Effective Control Systems in Health Organization

Effective Control Systems in Health Organization
At the end of each unit, DB participation is assessed based on level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion. DBs allow learners to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB are accepted after the end of the unit. Learners must demonstrate an appropriate depth of understanding of course content to receive credit for having submitted substantive posts. Typically, this is achieved with 3–4 strong paragraphs for Main Posts and 2–3 strong paragraphs for Response Posts.

Assignment Details

Based on your past experiences or research and the knowledge gained during your course work, consider the following question, and post a substantive initial post:

What effective control systems does a health care organization have in place to ensure that different people with varying professional commitments and approaches are consistent with the organization’s mission in a patient-centered environment?
