Eclectic Theoretical Orientation
Eclectic Theoretical Orientation
In chapter 1 (pgs. 20-27) the textbook explains that it takes an eclectic theoretical orientation in relation to the theories of development. This means it understands the importance of multiple theoretical approaches when discussing development (there is no one single explanation). Below is a list of the individual theoretical approaches. Choose which one you most identify with. Why did you choose this one? What makes this one different from the others? What is your favorite thing for this one? What is your least favorite thing about the theory? You are not limited to these questions – make your forum post “yours”. Please keep in mind I am not asking you to claim only one theoretical approach, I am simply asking which one of them makes the most sense to you.
Freud’s Theory
Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory
Piaget’s Cognitive Developmental Theory
Vygotsky’s sociocultural Cognitive Theory
The Information-Processing Theory
